Each year Coho, Chinook, pink and sockeye salmon spawn in the Adams River. However, every four years a phenomena occurs when over 3,000,000 sockeye salmon fight their way from the Pacific Ocean, up the Fraser and Thompson Rivers and return home to the Adams River to spawn and ultimately die. The event occurs in October of 2006, 2010, 2014 and so on. To mark the occasion, a 3-week long party is thrown for the over 200,000 visitors that travel to the area to watch this natural spectacle.
